Students sell art for the holidays

A new exhibit at Northern Michigan University is giving students a chance to sell their artwork for the holidays.

The Student Art Gallery is hosting the students' works now through the Friday. Work in a variety of forms is for sale including ceramics, sculpture, and photography.

The gallery hasn't offered students a place to sell their work for quite some time, and gallery employees say it's a good place to find gifts with a more personal touch.

"This is a really good place to get a more alternative gift, something that's original, something that's handmade, hand crafted, and there's a lot of love and effort and time put into everything, so why not give an original gift that isn't from a big box store. Support your school, support your students, support the cats," said Breanne Kanak of the NMU Student Art Gallery.

The Student Art Gallery's normal hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; however, those hours are reduced as the students have final exams.

For more information on the art sale, check out the Student Art Gallery's Facebook page.
