      Students spell their way to victory

      Fifty-three students, grades fifth through eighth, from across the Upper Peninsula competed Wednesday at Negaunee High School for the Upper Peninsula Spelling Bee finals.

      This year's Winner was Rushil Kassety, an eighth grader from Holy Name Catholic School in Escanaba.

      Later this year, Rushil will go to Washington, D.C., on an all-expenses paid trip to represent Upper Michigan in the National Spelling Bee.

      Marlee Matthews, a seventh grader from Marquette Area Public Schools earned the runner up title.

      Cali Cromell, a sixth grader from Marquette Area Public Schools took third place and Christy Glodowski, a fifth grader from Kingsford Schools took fourth place.
