Baraga County is hoping a new study will help them increase their portion of tourism and recreation dollars this summer season.
The study was called for by the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce and the County's Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Five thousand recent Baraga County visitors were sent an online survey with the hope of learning the area's strengths and weaknesses. The data suggests some short and long term plans to help grow tourism in that area.
"We're seeking an opportunity to do a better job learning about the customer or the visitor to our part of the world and what we can do to use that information to do a better job of causing them to spend more time and, at the end of the day, make a greater financial contribution to the economic development of our area," says the study's organizer Dr. Grant Fenner.
The full results of the survey will be read tomorrow at a meeting of the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
That meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the L'anse Township Hall.
