The Michigan Department of Transportation begins several Upper Peninsula road projects on Monday, May 19.
On US 2, 1.3 miles of highway near Ironwood is slated for utility upgrades, sidewalks, and building of a center turn lane. This will be done between Tourist Park and Curry Street. Work should be completed by October 17.
Also in Gogebic County, work on US 2 near Wakefield. Resurfacing of less than a mile of the highway from Eddy Street to M-28. Resurfacing will also be done from Putnam Street to Pierce Street. This should be done by June 27.
A third project on US 2 is in the Powers area. Resurfacing of about 10 miles of highway will be done from Powers to the Menominee/Delta County line. Work is expected to finish around July 18.
MDoT will also begin a project on M-35, near Menominee. Resurfacing and paving of just over nine miles of road from Jimtown Road south. This should be completed by September 19. Crews will be replacing guardrails and railings on the bridge over Turtle Creek in Menominee. They expect this to be finished by July 25.
