A suspect is behind bars after leading police on a high speed chase.
At 1 a.m. Saturday, police received a call about a suspect fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run accident on US-41 in Marquette Township, heading west.
Police said the driver was traveling at high speeds and refused to stop. State police boxed in the suspectâ??s vehicle, forcing the driver to reduce its speed significantly.
Then, one of the troopers used the patrol car to force the suspectâ??s car sideways and come to a stop at US-41 and Oak Street in Negaunee.
The suspect was arrested and is lodged in the Marquette County Jail for fleeing and eluding police in addition to several other charges.
There were no injuries and only minor damage to both vehicles.
The incident remains under investigation, and the suspect's name will not be released until after an arraignment.
