--------------------------------------------------------------A high speed chase in Marinette County that involved the suspect shooting at pursuing deputies has ended in an apparent suicide. It all began at 3:00 p.m. Thursday.

Marinette County Dispatch received a call that a man in a black GMC Yukon shot and hit their vehicle on U.S. 141 just south of Wausaukee. Two sheriff's squads rushed to the scene and spotted the suspect vehicle which fled at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle was driving recklessly, going left of center into oncoming traffic.

The chase continued on U.S. Highway 8. Deputies say the suspect reached out the window and fired a handgun at them. The officers lost the vehicle on a two rut road near the Town of Goodman.

Officers then spread out in the area he was last seen. An armored vehicle and bearcat units were requested. Officers in the armored vehicle went down the two rut road and located the suspect vehicle. They found the suspect outside his vehicle lying face down.

Authorities say he died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
