Troopers from the Calumet State Police Post located and attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen Monday by the Laurium Police Department.
At approximately 10 p.m. Monday, upon making contact with the vehicle, the driver began to flee and a short pursuit occurred. Shortly after, the vehicle became stuck in a snowbank and the driver attempted to flee on foot.
The driver was uncooperative and refused to comply with the officers' commands. At this point, the driver was advised he would be tasered if he did not comply and continued to disregard orders given by officers.
The driver was then tased and shortly after was arrested by officers.
Troopers are seeking charges for fleeing and eluding, operating while intoxicated, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The driver was also arrested by the Laurium Police Department for the theft of the vehicle.
No name is being released pending arraignment.
