The Keweenaw Peninsula Chamber of Commerce held their "Eggs and Issues" breakfast Thursday morning. But this time, students from Michigan Tech got a chance to speak. The goal of the event was for local businesses to find out and understand what they're doing well and the types of things they can improve upon.
"I think it's really interesting to see and meet the local business owners and the people that are really involved in our community, and it's an interesting opportunity to both network and offer our own opinions," said MTU student, Megan Plis.
The students say they enjoy the smaller businesses in the area over the more corporate-run stores. But many of the local businesses close early which makes it more difficult to shop at them. They also suggested the local businesses put on more events and have affordable prices for students to draw them in.
