The driver of a pickup truck that caused a three vehicle accident on February 3 on US-45 near Woodspur Road in Ontonagon Township has been charged with operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.
Seventeen-year-old Zachary Seid from Rockland could spend up to five years in prison and/or pay a $1,000 to $5,000 fine.
In February, Seid was slammed into the back of a truck after the other driver slowed down to pull into his driveway. When the driver noticed Seid was coming too fast, he tried moving out of the way. Seid hit the truck which caused it to spin counter clockwise. The spinning truck ended up hitting another vehicle.
Seid was trapped inside his vehicle and had a broken pelvis and femur from the crash.
Troopers from Wakefield State Police Post were assisted in the investigation at the scene of the crash by deputies from the Ontonagon Couny Sheriff Department, US Forest Service Law Enforcement Division, Ontonagon Volunteer Fire Department, Rockland Volunteer Fire Department and Sonco North Ambulance.
Seid's juvenile female passenger was charged with using marijuana.
Seid is lodged in the Ontonagon County Jail.
