Teen pleads guilty to animal abuse

An Escanaba teen accused of torturing cattle last July has pled guilty.

Seventeen-year-old Chad Meier, Jr. entered a guilty plea to three counts of animal torture or killing on Monday. He faces a maximum penalty of four years in prison. Meier and co-defendants, Nicholas Michael Leisner and Peter Sauve, stabbed three cattle at a farm in Wilson; two of the cattle had to be euthanized. Leisner and Sauve have been sentenced to two to four years in prison. Meier will be sentenced in Menominee County Circuit Court March 14.
