If you had the opportunity to enter a photo contest, would you know the perfect picture to use? Well, after submitting an inspiring picture, one Ishpeming teen won second place in a contest from Cricket Magazine.
"I see a hidden world that can only be seen through the camera lens," said Teresa Pillifant.
Fourteen-year-old Teresa Pillifant loves taking pictures of anything that piques her interest. Her curiosity in photography started four years ago from her grandmother, who also is a photographer.
"When I look through her old pictures, I felt like I was there. I guess I like that you can look back at them and have the memories," Pillifant said.
Since then, she always has her camera handy to snap a shot when the perfect photo opportunity presents itself. She mostly enjoys getting pictures of nature and her family.
"It's beautiful, and every day you can see something new and it will never be the same," Pillifant explained.
Teresa came across a photo contest in Cricket magazine last summer, asking for submissions of the best summer time pictures. She knew she had the right one of a sunset over Lake Michigan.
"I thought that it was a very clear picture, and I like the shadow of my cousin, Amber, in the background," Pillifant said.
Teresa says she was super excited to find out her picture got second place. She received a letter congratulating her at the end of October.
Her picture will be featured in the upcoming edition of Cricket magazine.
