Some showed their green appreciation Saturday in the form of art.
The Moosewood Nature Center at Presque Isle had several activities on hand to celebrate Earth Day. With the help of the community, an organizer from the Student Leader Fellowship Program at NMU made sure a henna artist, exhibits, bird watching and jewelry-making kept dozens busy.
A total of 23 artworks were on display both from students and the community.
"We're hoping to raise awareness for the environment and through that, for me as an art major, that really was embraced through the art that we have displayed out here today as well as just being able to enjoy the beautiful day that's out here today," said coordinator Kathryn Powell.
An award ceremony for the art contest followed later in the evening.
