The Natural Resource Commission held their annual U.P meeting on Thursday in Munising. Main topics of the meeting included deer hunting regulations, deer population and fishing and duck hunting regulations. The commission holds one meeting a year in the U.P so residents have a chance to have their voice heard.
"We usually have a very good turnout in the Upper Peninsula because the Upper Peninsula residents are passionate about hunting, fishing, trapping and camping," NRC Member John Madigan said. "They want to show up and make sure we hear their opinion."
The meeting was held at the American Legion post in Munising. Attendees of the meeting also saw a presentation about climate change and Brook Trout populations from a Michigan State student. The NRC also celebrated the 70th birthday of Smokey Bear.
