Third resuce on log slide in two weeks

Rangers at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore conducted a rescue of a 62-year-old female on the Log Slide August 7.

The woman experienced weakness and exhaustion and was transported by boat to Grand Marais Harbor. She was treated and released by Burt Township Ambulance Corps.

"This is the third rescue of this nature that rangers and local rescue personnel have responded to in the last two week," says Bill Smith, Acting Chief Ranger at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. "The Log Slide is a steep sand slope that can take as little as five minutes to walk down, but over an hour to climb back up. Caution is always urged when attempting this climb."
