Thousands of mountain bikers flocked to Lakeview Arena on Friday on the eve of the 15th annual Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic. Some 1900 eager bikers lined up to register for the race. When registering participants received their race number, timing chip and t-shirt. Vendors lined the arena handing out free gifts and advertising for local bike shops and other businesses.
"This is where everybody meets and the lines are very long, they're out past the YMCA right now so I imagine a lot of people are making friends," Race Coordinator Nicole Dewald said. "People that have raced together over the last 15 years will probably meet up here again."
The Negaunee Lion's Club hosted a pasta dinner for racers to fuel up. Registration ran from 6PM until eight. The first portion of the race will begin at 8AM on Saturday morning. Organizers are hoping to beat last year's registration of 2500 people.
