The Tombstone Detectives program at the Park Cemetery in Marquette was held on Thursday.
The family-friendly walking tour included tombstone rubbings and the investigation of symbols and clues on gravestones. The tour hopes to educate people on some early pioneers in Marquette and the roles that they played. The tour also had four pioneers who would come alive and recreate scenes from the past.
â??Local people seem to be really interested in our history, and itâ??s pretty diverse here and itâ??s interesting, alsoâ?? said Rosemary Michelin, Research Librarian. â??Instead of studying dates in a textbook about the history of the community, you can come out here and have it come alive through the characters.â??
The program will also do a tour in August that features heroes and villains that are buried in the cemetery.
