The fourth annual Keweenaw BrewFest is being held in Houghton on Saturday at the Waterfront Park. All proceeds from the event go toward the Keweenaw Community Foundation.
This year there will be 40 breweries and about 150 different beers to sample. Presale tickets are $30, or $40 at the gate, and include a commemorative glass and 12 tokens for beer samples.
In its last three years, BrewFest has raised over $50,000. Organizers say they expect around 1,200 visitors to the event this year.
â??It really is the largest party of the year in the western U.P. We had over 12 (hundred) to 13 hundred people here last year, our third year, and are growing,â?? said BrewFest director, Mike Rose. â??They get an opportunity to sample all sorts of different craft brews that they see nowadays on store shelves.â??
The event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Keweenaw Brewing Company in Houghton, the Keweenaw Community Foundation in Hancock, or by visiting the KCF website here .
