If you're driving on Wright Street, you'll notice some changes around the Great Lakes Recovery Center. There are four new evergreen trees in the yard. The trees were donated by the City of Marquette through the efforts of Mary Stevenson. The city arborist, along with many from the Great Lakes Recovery Center, helped plant the trees in the rain. Having the trees in the yard is a sign of hope for many who live at the center.
"On behalf of Mary, the City of Marquette, to be able to leave a legacy of hope through planting of trees...that is very symbolic in terms of our recovery mission here at Great Lakes Recovery Center. So this really will leave a lasting benefit for what we hope is generations to come," said GLRC CEO Greg Toutant.
The new trees will be maintained by residents and staff.
