The trail date has been set for the man charged with homicide by operation of a vehicle while intoxicated in connection to the death of 21-year-old Kristian Reed. Joseph Hayes of Lemont, Illinois is set to appear in the Marinette Circuit Court for a pretrial conference on April 3.
According to the Peshtigo Times, Hayes is also charged with felony counts of homicide by use of a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol content and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
He is also facing a first offense misdemeanor charge of causing injury by operation of a vehicle while intoxicated and a first offense of operating a vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration.
On Sept. 27, Hayes was allegedly heading southbound on US-141 in his full-sized pickup truck when he crossed into the northbound lane, striking Reed??s vehicle head on. Reed was then rear ended by the third vehicle involved, reports the Peshtigo Times. Reed was pronounced dead at the scene. Hayes supposedly had a BAC of 0.15, almost double the legal limit.
