The trial of an Iron Mountain man accused of spitting in a sandwich is on hold until October. The defendant, 23-year-old Dalton Ursulean is scheduled to stand trial on a charge of placing harmful objects in food, a 10-year felony.
He allegedly spit in a sandwich when he was working at the McDonald's Restaurant in Iron Mountain. The sandwich was ordered by a veteran's hospital officer. Ursulean is also charged with being a habitual offender, fourth offense. While the maximum sentence for his charge of spitting in food is 10 years, the maximum for being a habitual offender is life.
The trial has been continued to October 21 because Ursulean has switched attorneys. The trial was scheduled to begin on Monday, May 20.
