The trial of an Ishpeming man facing murder charges is set to begin Wednesday morning in Marquette County Circuit Court after jury selection concluded on Tuesday.
Jack Carpenter is facing a charge of open murder, as well as felony fire arms.
In June of last year, police were alerted to the death of 29-year-old David Meyer. The two men reportedly got into an altercation in Carpenter's home. Carpenter claims Meyer threatened and attempted to assault him with a knife, so he shot him in self defense.
Jury selection started on Tuesday morning and lasted throughout the day. The trial is set to get underway with opening statements on Wednesday.
