On Monday, members of the Ishpeming City Council chose two candidates to be interviewed during the first week of September for the open city manager seat.
The first candidate is Charles Cleaver from Hale, Michigan. Cleaver worked as an administrator controller and assistant chief administrative officer for Saginaw County.
The other candidate the council is considering asked to remain anonymous, however, he is a current city manager in Michigan.
A total of 20 applicants were reviewed by the council before they narrowed it down to two candidates.
"I'm hoping we get a person with quite a bit of background in city business, management, and all the the departments and has a working knowledge of that," said Mayor Mike Tall.
The two candidates will be interviewed Friday, September 6 in council chambers.
If a candidate is chosen, the person will replace Jered Ottenwess who resigned in May to become the city manager of Traverse City.
