      Two arrested after Alger County armed robbery

      Police have arrested two suspects believed to have been involved in the armed robbery and home invasion in Au Train Township last week.

      The Michigan State Police say that two Bay City residents were arrested on Tuesday.

      A 29-year-old man, identified as Richard Anthony VanPelt, is being charged with first degree home invasion, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, unlawful imprisonment, and armed robbery. VanPelt was arraigned in court on Wednesday afternoon. He will be back in court on March 26.

      A 20-year-old woman was also arrested. She is being charged with first degree home invasion and armed robbery.

      Police believe the two suspects attacked and robbed a 19-year-old man at a home in Au Train Township in the early morning on March 12 . That man, identified as Allen Miron, was taken to an area hospital and treated for injuries.

      The 20-year-old female suspect is being transported to Alger County and is awaiting her arraignment on the charges.
