A man and woman have been arrested after various thefts and exchanges at Walmart, which resulted in a police chase.
According to police, 36-year-old Shannon Sims of Georgia and 31-year-old Shannon Cowling of Hardwood were arrested after returning stolen items to Walmart in exchange for gift cards for close to $1,500.
The Iron Mountain Police Department said Sims fled Walmart when they arrived and drove off in a stolen vehicle. He was later located on US-2 near the courthouse. Sims is charged with retail fraud, operating while intoxicated, unlawfully driving away in an automobile, and domestic violence. He is also a habitual offender, fourth degree.
Cowling faces one count of retail fraud.
Sims faces a preliminary examination on July 10.
