Two occupants of an Escanaba residence are safe after firefighters helped them escape their home.
Escanaba Public Safety was called out to 2111 12th Ave. South at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night. When they arrived, they quickly helped the people in the home, one of whom is disabled, to safety.
The fire originated in the attached garage. It took about a half hour for the fire to be knocked down. The garage has fire and smoke damage. The home received minimal smoke damage.
The cause of the fire has not been determined yet.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by Rampart EMS, the Escanaba City Electric Department, and DTE Gas Company.
