The United Way of Marquette County has reached their goal for donations this campaign season. They managed to raise $425,000. They use money donated during the campaign to give back to organizations throughout Marquette County. Last year they helped more than 9,000 clients. United Way Co-Chair Mark Canale says this community really came together.
"I am just blown away by the generosity of people, and we go and we make our plea and people just open their wallets. It's unbelievable! Very, very happy for all of us here in Marquette County that we live in such a great place," said Canale.
To celebrate reaching their goal, the United Way is planning a business after hours party April 24 at the Holiday Inn in Marquette. Although they reached their goal for this season, they say they accept donations year-round because the need is so great.
