Beachgoers looking for some education to go along with their entertainment went for a walk on Miners Beach Sunday.
At least 15 people followed a Pictured Rocks Ranger down the beach as she told them about Lake Superior and its effect on various ecosystems, both on land and at sea.
The ranger told TV-6 News that she wanted to make the event as engaging as it was educational.
"I just wanted to share with people...things about Lake Superior that I find fascinating, especially the dynamics, the power that this lake has to shape the climate here. The landscape, the life of the animals, the plants in the park and the people who live in these communities". said ranger Andrea Chynoweth.
The walk is part of a celebration of Lake Superior called Lake Superior Day, but this is the first time in a few years that the Miners Beach area has held an event to mark the occasion.
