A number of fire departments and emt services now have a new automated external defibrillator machine. Today dozens gathered at the Forsyth Township Fire Hall to train on their new machine.
It's all due to the efforts of the U.P. Pink Power group. Just a few weeks ago, they held a 17 mile run walk to raise funds for the purchase of some AED machines.
They were able to raise enough money to purchase 16 machines.
"We're so rural here that the more we can get out the more lives we're going to save. That's the first defense when it comes to, I mean you need early defibrillation to save a life" said trainer Tara Armatti.
The group hopes to be able to purchase more AED machines next year.
