U.P. students seek scholarship, need votes

A Marquette Senior High School student and an Escanaba student have entered into a statewide video contest to win a scholarship, and they need your help.

Jacob Wolf, 18, is one of 54 contestants in the Michigan 2020 scholarship competition. Wolf is currently a Marquette Senior High School student.

High school seniors from all over Michigan made short videos promoting the Michigan 2020 Campaign. Michigan 2020 plans to pay full education costs for future college students. Wolf was introduced to the contest when his teacher, Eric Hammerstrom, brought it up in class.

Wolf spent several weeks filming and editing his video. He had several friends help as on-screen talent.

"It looks really good, and I'm really happy with it, and I think I have a great shot," said Wolf.

Katherine M. is a student in Escanaba, and she is also applying for the scholarship.

If either student receives enough votes by May, they will be entered into the top 10 finalists. The scholarship for $10,000 will be awarded to the winner.
