An update on the KC 135 plane that had an emergency landing at Sawyer International Airport Tuesday.
Earlier Thursday, reporters from our station were escorted by members of the Wisconsin Air National Guard to get a closer look at the plane, known as a Stratotanker. The aircraft, coming from Milwaukee, experienced minor hydraulic issues during a routine aerial refueling mission.
There were three crew members and 6,000 gallons of jet fuel onboard. The plane's crew requested an emergency landing at Sawyer, because of its long runway.
The crew is waiting for parts to be flown in later Thursday and then work will continue on the plane. Once the work is finished the crew will return to General Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
