Upper Michigan man to face murder charges in Louisiana

An Ironwood Township man wanted for murder will be extradited to Louisiana after an Ontonagon County judge made the ruling on Tuesday.

Nineteen-year-old Mason Chiapuzio remains in the Ontonagon County Jail at this time. He and three other suspects are charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Brandon Harris in April of last year in Baton Rouge. Chiapuzio fought extradition, claiming he was not the person wanted by police.

Authorities from Louisiana will now travel to Ontonagon to bring Chiapuzio back to Baton Rouge to face charges. He was arrested near Ontonagon in May on a warrant from the Baton Rouge Police Department.
