Nearly 4,800 customers with the Upper Peninsula Power Company were without power Monday afternoon.
According to the UPPCO outage website, the heaviest hit area was Gwinn with nearly 4,200 customers without power. Other areas facing outages were Little Lake, Negaunee, Seney and Skandia.
According to UPPCO, the power in Gwinn/KI Sawyer went out due to a transmission issue at around 1 p.m. Power is expected to be restored in two-to-three hours, according to UPPCO.
