Upper Peninsula Power Company to assist Lower Michigan power restoration

Power companies, working endlessly to restore power to more than 100,000 homes in Michigan and Maine, are calling for reinforcements.

Crews from the Upper Peninsula Power Company and Wisconsin Public Service will be assisting Consumers Energy with restoration of power in Flint, Michigan.

About 50 employees left Escanaba on Thursday evening and are expected to be in Flint until Sunday to help restore electricity.

More than 100,000 people in Michigan and Maine remain without power after a weekend ice storm struck much of the state. Utilities say restoration efforts are being slowed by fallen trees and some people may be without power until Saturday.
