Traditional pumpkin carving methods were not used at the Marquette Commons Saturday.
After the kids drew creative faces on each pumpkin, members from the Marquette Arts and Culture Center and the Downtown Development Authority got out their power tools and started drilling.
The Fleming family is from Marshall, Michigan and they are taking a road trip though the state. On Saturday, they stopped at the Commons to carve their very own pumpkins.
"I had its tongue sticking out and Sophia's had freckles and mine had freckles. It was kind of wet and sort of gross, but it was fun," said Anneke Fleming.
The jack-o-lanterns will be on display October 26 for the Halloween Special which will be held at the Marquette Commons at sunset.
