After 50 years of serving food in Harvey, Wahlstrom's Family Restaurant is closing. Wahlstrom's has been through bankruptcy, and Marquette County foreclosed on the property for non-payment of taxes.
The restaurant was recently up for auction and was purchased. The owners have been trying to negotiate a new lease but have not been successful. Their last day of business will be this Sunday October 6. The staff is hopeful they might find a new location.
"We're going to try to maybe possibly move, it'll change Wahlstrom's a little bit, but we'll be able to take our name and our legacy with us so we are actively scouting for a new location," said Wahlstrom's General Manager Sarah Lindberg. "We'd definitely like to thank our staff and all their hard work and, of course, our loyal customers who've kept us going here."
Lindberg also says they're looking to relocate within Marquette County. The staff at Wahlstrom's is throwing a going away party this Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
