      Walkers raise money for community

A group of Gwinn women are paying it forward.

On Saturday, they held their annual Pink Power Walk, and the goal of this year's event is to raise enough money to buy portable defibrillators for communities throughout the U.P.

The 17-mile walk started at Tall Timber Grocery in Forsyth Township.

"The turnout to this is unbelievable, especially since, a couple of days ago, I didn't even know if we should have the walk today with the snow coming down, but the sun's coming out and it's going to be a great day to walk. This is what we do in the U.P.," said Casey Arkens, member of Pink Power Walk.

The walk also honors those who have lost their battle with cancer or are still fighting for a cure.
