The 2nd annual Knock Out Cancer Walk was held today in Bruce Crossing. Employees of the Settlers Federal Credit Union organized the event to raise money for the Ontonagon County Cancer Association. 115 participants showed up to walk the five mile course. The organizers said they just wanted to help out any way they could.
"We just decided together that we wanted to do something to raise money for our local cancer association," Race Organizer Lori Lannet said. "Everybody has a family member that or knows somebody that has cancer and its helping them out."
Lori said they hope to raise about $3,500. Walkers could donate by buying a t-shirt and 59 local businesses also helped out and chipped in. The participants were treated to lunch after the walk.
