Sun, 19 May 2013 02:23:01 GMT — Gwinn High School students walked Saturday in memory of one of their own. The Youth Advisory Council organized the first annual "P.S. I Love You" Suicide Prevention Walk around Gwinn. The event honors Kayla Fleaciano, a Gwinn student who committed suicide last fall. Money raised goes to Voices For Youth in Gwinn. The event also spread awareness about the warning signs for suicide and how it can be stopped. "If somebody who had committed suicide, if they were just to stop and think about all the people they impacted like this, that they would have stopped and stepped down and taken that deep breath and realized that they are needed in this world," said Gwinn High School junior Molly Smith. After the walk, they held a memorial service for Kayla and planted a lilac bush in her honor. They chose a lilac bush because it is purple and matches the purple theme of the P.S. I Love You campaign.
