Hundreds of families will be much warmer this winter.
It??s all thanks to Wesley Methodist Church, Negaunee Ministerial Association and over 300 volunteers from the community. It was their Fourth Annual Keep Kids Warm event held at the Ishpeming Armory.
Organizers say more than 6,000 items were donated this year, from boots, snowpants, coats and gloves for all age ranges. Those needing the items say no amount of thanks will ever be enough. Ishpeming resident Gerald Humphreys called it "a blessing."
"A lot of people don't have a lot of stuff," said Humphreys. "It??s just a blessing to be able to come here and get coats and stuff for the kids."
The drive attracted over 700 people for winter wear, the highest number ever.
