A sinkhole has now developed in Marquette after a water main break Friday morning.
Heavy flooding in the Grove Street area of Marquette led city crews to place barricades out around 3:00 a.m. Then, after 5:00 a.m., they noticed a street problem.
The road began to sink at Fisher and 7th Streets. It developed into a large sinkhole. Detours remain in that region. Crews will work through the day Friday to repair both the water main as well as the street.
Motorists in Marquette are asked to find an alternate route until these repairs have been completed. We will update their progress through the day.
