The City of Ironwood is in the process of restoring water to parts of the city. The repair to a break in a 16-inch water main, which serves approximately 3,000 residents, was completed around 1 a.m. Saturday.
The break was first discovered Thursday night on Lake Street, south of US-2. Since then, crews have been working around the clock.
"One aspect that we're kind of pleased that the repair did hold," says Utilities Manager Bob Tervonen, "and we're trying to push water to the south part of town."
Residents are now encouraged to turn on their water faucets. If air is coming from the faucet, officials say, keep the faucet open until a steady stream of water is flowing.
Anyone not receiving water is asked to contact the Ironwood Public Safety Department starting at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
City crews will be on hand to attend to any water-related issues.
The boil advisory remain in effect through the weekend.
