Where are the Halloween events in your area?

Halloween is days away, and the annual tradition means millions of people all across the country will open their doors and offer free candy to those trick-or-treating.

On the TV6 & FOX UP Facebook page, people wanted to know where they can celebrate Halloween in the Upper Peninsula.

The Marquette County "Scare Grounds" will host the 4th Annual Haunted Hay Ride filled with spooks and surprises Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 from 7:30 to 11 p.m.

"They can expect to be super scared. It's a hay ride. It's going to last about 24 minutes long, and then when the hay ride itself is done, they exit and they get to walk through a haunted house," said Andi Goriesky, hay ride coordinator.

For residents living in the mid-eastern U.P., on October 18 from noon to 8 p.m. and October 19 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Schoolcraft County Fair Grounds will have up to 20 different people dressed in costumes, waiting to scare you at every turn.

"Our uniqueness is that we're in a barn. I don't know of any that are in the barn, and it's kind of right next to the graveyard, so some spooks might've come down and infiltrated the barn. You never know," said Cathy Rohde, Schoolcraft County Fair board member.

On the TV6 & FOX UP Facebook page, Barb Stockton said, "The Pelkie Fire and Rescue Department has an annual haunted house in the Baraga Fair Grounds building in Pelkie. We don't have a door fee, though many bring unopened bags of individual candy to be added to our treat bags. We have door prizes, games and snacks to eat and drink."

For those of you who are not interested in haunted houses, the Chocolay Lions Club will hold its 29th Annual Halloween Party at the Cherry Creek School from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 31.

"This year we're going to have a disc golf game. We'll have hockey and basketball. We try to plan for all the different ages to have something to do," said Pete LaRue, halloween chair for the Chocolay Lions Club.

If you know about a Halloween event taking place in your area, post it on the TV6 & FOX UP Facebook page and we will put together a list and add it to our website.
