Who took home top chef? Soup'r Chili Challenge a success

The 19th Annual Soupâ??r Chili Challenge wrapped up Tuesday evening at the Escanaba State Fairgrounds. The event kicks off the fundraising campaign for the United Way of Delta County.

Over a dozen soups and chilis were on the menu. For a small entry fee, those in attendance could taste test as much of either that they could handle.

Chefs had two hours to prepare eight gallons of their dish, raising the heat in the kitchen for first-time contestants.

"It was a little nerve-racking at first," admitted Amanda Neuens with the Safelite Auto Glass team. "I had a team of three in the kitchen and we just worked well together."

"Everybody pitched in and we did it," Neuens added.

Returning champion chefs, like Rick Michaeu, also felt the pressure.

"I have to try to defend my title," stated Michaeu. "I'm making the same kind, it's white chicken chili, but this year I did add another ingredient that did change it a little bit."
