Northern Michigan University's ROTC started their 7th annual Run-a-thon Monday morning.
Over 60 cadets participated in running 13 miles around the Superior Dome to help benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Marquette and Alger Counties.
In addition to the actual Run-a-thon, the ROTC members raised funds through donations from community members and businesses.
In the past the proceeds from the event have gone to benefit the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
This year, the cadets decided to spread the wealth to benefit another area of the community through Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
"The reason that we chose to help benefit this organization is, because we believe every child deserves a chance at success. They hold some our core values. We believe that by us helping them, they help better our society" says Cadet Brett Dehanas.
The final amount has not yet been tallied, but the Wildcat Battalion hopes to raise over $2,000 with this year's event.
