The Florence County Sheriff's Department has just received a $42,000 grant to improve their communication system.
The grant comes from the State of Wisconsin in an attempt to connect more of their agencies in case of emergencies. They'll use the money for new radios which will be connected to a new high tech interdepartmental system.
"It'll do nothing but enhance our radio equipment," said Florence County Chief Deputy, David Gribble. "It'll allow local, regional, and state talk groups to be utilized in cases of large scale disasters or large needs where mutual aid would be required."
No word yet on when the new system will be up and running.
