Michigan State Police have arrested a 34-year-old woman for allegedly driving while intoxicated and hitting a construction worker.
The Michigan State Police report that on Thursday at 9:40 a.m. Central Time a trooper from the Iron Mountain Post entered a construction zone on US-2 near Third Street in Breitung Township. The trooper saw a construction worker fall to the ground after being struck by a westbound vehicle. The trooper pursued and stopped the suspect vehicle, which was leaving the scene.
The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated causing serious injury as well as failure to stop and identify at the scene of a personal injury crash. Her name is being withheld pending arraignment.
The construction worker, a 54-year-old Saginaw man, was taken by Beacon Ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. His condition is not known at the time.
Troopers were assisted by the Iron Mountain Police Department and Advanced Crash Investigators from the Iron Mountain Post.
