A 39-year-old Rapid River woman was arrested for alleged embezzlement involving Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.
Jana Chaperon was arraigned in court on Wednesday morning, according to the Michigan State Police. She is facing one charge of embezzlement between $50,000 and $100,000. Chaperon is also being charged with using a computer to commit a crime.
Chaperon was the director of the Woodland Meadows Assisted Living Facility, which was owned by the hospital. Police say she resigned from her position before the facility was sold in the summer of 2012.
If she is convicted, her embezzlement charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
