A 51-year-old woman was discovered dead on the ice under the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie, according to police.
Theresa May Ranger was discovered on the ice after officials discovered a car parked on the bridge with no occupant inside. Police followed footprints from the vehicle to the railing, where they spotted Ranger's body on the ice in the second lock.
A toll booth attendant reported to police that Ranger had entered the bridge shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Friday.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Department suspects no foul play in the incident. An apologetic letter was discovered at Ranger's apartment.
