The woman who allegedly stabbed her fianc in June was arraigned Friday morning in Marquette County Circuit Court. The woman, 36-year-old Cloea Ashley Wiig, pled no contest to one count of felonious assault.
The charge stems from an incident that happened on Saturday, June 29 around 11:15 a.m. at 720 County Road 545 in West Branch Township. The victim, 43-year-old James Potvin from Skandia, called 911 and said he had been stabbed with a knife.
Wiig and Potvin were engaged, and they were arguing before the alleged stabbing happened. Potvin was transported to Marquette General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. Wiig posted bond after the incident and was released from the Marquette County Jail.
The Marquette County Prosecutor's Office said they would seek a delay of sentence on the felony charge. The maximum penalty for the charge is four years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine. On September 13th, Wiig received a 12 month delay of sentence.
On March 3, 2014, the charges against Wiig were dismissed.
