Wykons' perfect season first ever in school history

For the first time in the entire history of West Iron County schools, the Wykon football team has done it. Their perfect undefeated season of 9-0 has never once happened for as long as the schoolâ??s been around, which now has the community ecstatic about this victorious underdog team.

Their impressive season now has them heading to the playoffs, with a home field advantage this Friday against Traverse City Saint Francis High School for their Division 7 post-season game. The players on the team said itâ??s an exciting time to be a Wykon, and theyâ??re looking forward to being a part of the school's history the community will look back on.

â??It feels really good, the whole community's behind us,â?? said quarterback, Andrew Peterson. â??You walk into a store and everyone's coming up to you, and it feels really good. Our team came together a lot better this year; our leaders stepped up and everyone's just playing together, and playing as a team, and we're playing really well.â?? The much-anticipated game kicks-off at 6 p.m. Central Time, at Nelson Field in Iron River. The winner of that game will face either Ishpeming or Mancelona in the district title game.
